Soothing Sounds

Office noise can be such a distraction. There might be a meeting going on down the hall or just that one noisy colleague who seems to have all the time in the world to chat it up with everyone that walks by. Studies show that listening to soothing sounds, such as nature sounds or instrumental music, can help you focus and get more work done.

Stopwatches

Time management is a key component in working efficiently. There are a variety of different time management methods to try. One very popular method is the Pomodoro Technique. This technique requires 25 minutes of work then a five minute break. Every four intervals equals a 15-20 minute break. Some people prefer to work in longer stretches because once they are in the zone they want to stay there as long as they can. The trick is to find out what works best for you and get your stopwatch out if necessary.

Colors

Many researchers find that adding color to your work space may liven things up a bit and keep you focused on productivity. Red can be the most stimulating color, but it is also seen as being aggressive. Yellow is very popular because it is also stimulating, but has only positive connotations. Try adding some yellow to stimulate some positive productivity to your work space.

Plants

One last trick for a more productive work space is to add a plant to your office. Plants promote a healthy environment and are proven to reduce stress.
